Selection

For more than half a century, I have been the guardian of my father's negatives, cherishing them in quiet solitude. While they lay dormant, I was cognizant of their intrinsic aesthetic value. The passage of over fifty years since these photographs were captured has not only preserved but enhanced their significance, enriching them with profound historical depth. This passage of time, coupled with the extraordinary changes in the world, have made this collection a veritable cultural gem.

In 2001, I embarked on the meticulous task of digitizing each negative. The work to distill the collection to its essence was a labor of patience. I painstakingly whittled down the number from eleven hundred negatives to the 271 you now see in this curated section of the site, aptly named "The Selection.” This is a carefully crafted selection, a mosaic of everyday life and notable moments, featuring family snapshots, candid portraits of both the familiar and the noteworthy, sweeping landscapes, and vignettes of local events from bygone days, as well as other captivating themes. Each image stands as a testament to the enduring beauty and resilience of human expression captured through the lens.
